IF THIS HOUSE COULD TALK -- BONUS BLOG -- JENNIE THE ARTIST

Last Updated 6/21/2025

Jennie Lucy Koester Scott, Charles and Sylvia Koester’s middle child, was born 146 years ago. Affectionately known as “Jinks” by her family, she lived her entire life in the home that now is the Koester House Museum. The Museum has many family treasures including the artwork done by Jennie. Jennie and her big sister Tinnie took painting lessons in 1892 for 50 cents an hour. Jennie’s 1894 sailboat in its unique triangular frame is in the front parlor. Her floral painting hangs in the dining room. The latch hook tapestry hangs ceiling to floor in the front hallway.
